The 10 Best Izakaya You Must Visit in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Shinjuku is only 20 mins from Tokyo station. There are many office buildings out there but there are also many Izakaya restaurants open until morning. Today, I’m going to introduce the best Izakaya restaurants in Shinjuku area.
1. Kyoto Koshitsu Izakaya Nishiki Tei

If you want an easy access, this restaurant is located right in front of the station. I recommend their Nagoya Kochin Sukiyaki Course.
You can enjoy great sukiyaki with an affordable price. They have separated private rooms so it’ll be good for a small party as well.

If you want to have dinner in a nice box seat, quietly I recommend this restaurant. Spare rib is their popular item so don’t miss it! It comes with BBQ sauce and it’s so delicious!

This restaurant is very popular and it is hard to make a reservation. At the door, there is a sign saying “Slow, Tight, Hot” which describes this restaurant and is pretty funny.
I recommend you to order Oden here. Call ahead before walking in the restaurant.

As its name says, this restaurant specializes for Motsu Nikomi. The soup selection is Miso, Shio, Yuzu, and more, and all of them are delicious. Besides, you can enjoy their retro atmosphere of Japanese old times.
Their price is reasonable as well.

Marutori Ruisuke is a popular restaurant serving delicious chicken dishes. Especially, “Oyamadori Marudori Karaage”, which is a deep fried chicken, is really delicious.

This place is open for 24 hours and their beer and highball are just 180 yen! They serve many kinds of dishes, so you’ll enjoy drinking until morning.
The restaurant is very casual and many customers are there, but if you miss your last train and want to stop by another Izakaya, this is a perfect place!

This restaurant has been open for a long time. It has a retro atmosphere inside which makes you feel very cozy. Their dishes are up to 500 yen and it is very reasonable as well.
If you are looking for some cozy place where you can enjoy drinking with your friends, this is a great choice

In this restaurant, you’ll feel like you are in Kyoto. Their interior is wood based and has a very nice design.
In spring, cherry blossom trees are decorated, and in fall, colorful trees are decorated. Enjoy your drink while feeling four seasons.

This restaurant serves fresh wild vegetables and fish from Awajishima. Especially they have onions from the area which are sweeter than regular onions, and also Sashimi and Kaisen Donburi are amazing. If you are looking for fresh fish, I recommend this place.

They have a great selection of sake from all over Japan and serve only seasonal ones. I recommend “14 Dai Sanshu set”. It comes with three rare sake that you cannot find in any other Izakaya!
