Akashiyaki is one of the most famous local foods of Kobe, and it is very famous in Kansai area as well. At a glance, Takoyaki and Akashiyaki look very similar, but these two finger foods are totally different!

Takoyaki uses flours as its main ingredients, but Akashiyaki uses eggs as it main ingredients. The other name of Akashiyaki is “Tamagoyaki”, which literally means grilled egg.

One of the best Akashiyaki stores in Kobe is Kikucho. Kikucho is located within 3-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, and it is famous for its exceptional Akashiyaki.

Kikucho opens until late at night, and you can enjoy eating akashiyaki comfortably at Kikucho. You can enjoy Akashiyaki for JPY 600 per portion, which is not so expensive.

The secret of Juuban’s delicious Karubi Rice Bowl is the special sauce that is used to grilled the meat, which releases great smells when the meat is grilled.

Bokkake Sobameshi is one of the most famous local foods in Kobe, which is basically a combination of Bokkake and Sobameshi.

Sobameshi is a combination of yakisoba (Japanese style stir fried noodles) and yakimeshi (Japanese style stir fried rice). Sobameshi is seasoned with both soy sauce and worcestershire sauce, so it tastes very bold compared to the normal yakisoba and yakimeshi.

Bokkake is a beef gristle and konnyaku stew, and it tastes spicy but sweet at the same time. Bokkake is usually used as the ingredients of one of the following dishes: okonomiyaki, curry rice, yakisoba, and udon.

Nagata Tank Suji for its superb Bokkake Sobameshi, and you can also try its superb Bokkake Yakisoba if you want something other than rice!

You can buy “Ikanago no kugini” as souvenirs, and we strongly to get one of them at Daikokuya!

The “Ikanago no kugini” sold at Daikokuya are superb, and they are available in two different flavors: Japanese peppers and ginger!

Our favorite dish is the Suematsu’s original Sakura Rice, which is a ketchup rice with pork cutlets toppings and cream sauce on it!

Our recommendation is Naruto Taiyaki Honpo, a Taiyaki specialty shop located within 3-minute walk from Sannomiya Station. The Taiyaki sold at Naruto has crispy and crunchy textures on the outside, with the red beans filling melts right away in your mouth as well.

Naruto offers two different types of Taiyaki; one with red bean paste fillings, and the other one with sweet potato fillings!
