The 10 Best Breakfasts Restaurants You Must Eat in Otaru, Hokkaido

Otaru city is located in north-west side of Sapporo city. There are many famous sightseeing spots there such as Otaru Unga and Otaru aquarium. Many people visit Sapporo and Otaru together. Today I’m going to introduce you great breakfast restaurants in Otaru city.

1. Sankaku market Manpuku tei

Otaru is known for fresh seafood. Just 5 mins from Otaru station, you can have fresh seafood for breakfast in this restaurant.

Kaisen donburi is their popular item and you can get it with a reasonable price as well.

2. Sankaku tei

This restaurant is located in Sankaku market. They serve delicious seafood donburi and I recommend their “Sankaku donburi”.

They offer only limited plates to customers so don’t miss it. It’s open from 8 am.

3. Tabedokoro Aita

This restaurant is also in Sankaku market. Many local people love to visit this place.

They have a great variety of menu for seafood donburi, so it might be hard to choose one!

4. Ichiba Shokudo Ajidokoro Takeda

This restaurant has three stores in Sankaku market. Many people especially foreigners like to visit their stores, so English menu is available.

They serve good sake as well, so you can even have a drink or two from the morning.

5. Hayashiya Shokudo

If you are looking for some big volume breakfast and not seafood, this is the place.

They serve seafood as well but they offer different kinds of menu such as curry rice, ramen, and etc. Also located in Sankaku market.

6. Terrace Brasserie

This restaurant is inside of a hotel and offers breakfast buffet. They use fresh ingredients from Hokkaido and serve many dishes.

Especially, chefs cook omelette right in front of you, and it is so delicious. The ketchup which goes on top of the omelette is also homemade.

7. Cafe Ironai Shokudo

Located 8 mins from Otaru station, this cafe is literally hidden and it’s a little hard to find.

They turned an old house into a cafe, so it has a relaxing and nice atmosphere. They offer breakfast menu, which comes with toast, sausage, scrambled eggs and bacon.

8. Restaurant Seagull

This restaurant serves both Japanese style breakfast and western style breakfast.

In lunchtime, Om-rice with beef stew sauce is amazing. From the restaurant, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Ishikari bay.

9. Donburi chaya Otaru Sakaimachi dori

Located 13 mins from Otaru station, this restaurant serves fresh Seafood donburi. You’ll also enjoy their good old fisherman’s atmosphere.

“Kegani Ebi donburi” – fresh crab and shrimp are filled on top of rice – is really amazing!

10. Kahi Sakan

Conveniently located inside of Otaru station, you can have a basic breakfast menu such as coffee with some toast and sandwich.

They are open from 8 am. If you are looking for breakfast but something light, not a big volume like seafood, then, I recommend this cafe.
