The 10 Best Places to Eat in Gotemba, Shizuoka

Gotemba is plateau that is located in Shizuoka. There are sightseeing spots like Mt. Fuji, Shiraito-no-taki but lots of restaurants are more like for local people. Also most of sightseeing spots are a little far from the stations so restaurants for tourists are also far too. Today, we would like to introduce good food in Gotemba.

1. Meitetsu Saikan

Meitetsu Saikan is a Chinese restaurant that has a huge garden and located at back street of Hakone that is second turn of right from JR Gotemba station Otome exit.

There is a store and party room on the first floor and restaurant on the second floor. They have course meal and set menu.

For lunch, they have half size of noodle or rice, and dessert with good price so even people who feel it is expensive for dinner still can enjoy it. This place is good for family trip!

2. Uokei

Uokei is a popular place that always has waiting line that is located near Inno elementary. They have table seats and tatami floor inside.

All their menu is big. Most popular menu is “Gokujyo kaisendo”. Please enjoy sea food!

3. Sosaimenka Nonomi

Sosaimenka Nonomi Tomei Ashigara is located in food court in Tomei highway Ashigara rest area and famous in Japan made by Minoru Sano.

It is a rest area of high way but you can access there from back road of rest area. They have “Wantan soy sauce ramen” and “Kogashi komi GYU shio ramen” for menu. Please try!

4. Sumiyaki restaurant Sawayaka

“Sumiyaki restaurant Sawayaka Gotemba inter” is located at Higashi tanaka ichhome intersection that is east from JR Gotemba station.

They have sofa table so even you go with family, you can relax. “Genkotsu hamburg” is most popular menu. They use 100% beef. They have another hamburger beef too. Please try!

5. Mugibatake

Mugibatake is located at 6 minutes from Tochikubo bus stop, second floor of Gotemba kogen beer that is near Tokinosu art museum. It is a buffet restaurant. There are 500 seats, and they have fresh food and local beer.

They have 80 minutes course and 120 minutes course so you can enjoy Japanese, western and Chinese. They have 60 minutes course on the weekdays. If you come to Gotemba for sightseeing, please visit!

6. Katsuei Gotemba-ten

Katsuei Gotemba　is Tonkatsu restaurant that is located at Gukisawa intersection after getting off the bus at Gongendo.

They have counter seats, table seats and tatami seats in the restaurant, so you can go either with small group or big group. They have Katsuei burger to go. You can taste grease once you bite it. Please try!

7. Ninooka ham

Ninooka ham is where has yellow sign and have both their house and store. It is a little hard to find the entrance so be careful when you go.

They see home made sausage and bacon. You can’t eat in the store but it is good for souvenir. If you come to Gotemba, please stop by!

8. Toraya kobo

Toraya kobo is a Japanese snack store that is located at turning to east at Kosui intersection of Gotemba bypass.

They have terrace seats at the store, so you can eat in. They also have seasonal snack so if you come to Gotemba for sightseeing, please visit!

9. Groun table

Groun table is located near Tokinosu art museum like Mugibatake. It is a beer restaurant that has sign saying “Gotemba kogen beer”. There are 400 seats inseide and they have stage, so you can see band performance sometimes and you can enjoy food, beer and music.

There are lots of limited local beer. And they have appetizer, salad, grill, pizza, and pasta. If you come for sightseeing, please visit here too.

10. FruFull Gotemba

“FruFull Gotemba” is where they sell fresh fruit jelly that has sign saying “FruFull” with red paint. They have fruit jelly like summer orange, and white strawberry.

They have been introduced on TV many times. You can’t eat inside so please buy for souvenir or to go. If you come to Gotemba, you should get them!
