This foot bath can be found near the JR Atami Station. It is free and located in a populated location so it is visited by many people each day.

There is a roof and bench and for 100 yen you can purchase a towel. As long as the weather is not bad, you can enjoy here without any prior preparation.

2. Omiya no Matsu

2. Omiya no Matsu

This is a very famous tree found along the seaside of Atami. This is said to be where the main character of a traditional folk story and his lover parted places.

By the tree there is a statue to them. This is the second tree placed here in commemoration. It was placed in the 1966.

The first tree was planted in the Edo-era by Nobutsuna Matsudaira. Please do visit this site to understand this traditional story better!

This castle was built in 1959 and is made of rebar and concrete.

From the observatory at 43 meters above the ground you can not only see the city of Atami but also the nearby islands. In addition, when the weather is good you can enjoy the view from the foot bath here.

Inside you can find Osaka Castle and Nagoya Castle made out of matches and other more historical artifacts. This is a great place to be introduced to a variety of Japanese culture!

4. MOA Art Museum

This museum is located 5 minutes from Atami Station by car and 7 minutes by taxi. The location is that so you can look out over the bay.

The name of this museum is “Mokichi Okada International Association” and in it are housed many national treasures.

In February of 2017 it was renewed and photography is now allowed. So come, enjoy and take picture!

Here you can enjoy a sky walk. This ropeway is located 3 minutes from the bus stop. The ropeway goes to up Mt. Hachiman.

From this observatory you can enjoy a view of the ocean and on a day of good weather you can see across the bay.

This is located next to the Atami Castle. Here you will find 49 pieces of trick art.

You may take photos inside so be sure to take your picture in some scary looking locations. There are also smaller objects to aid in your trick photography seasons. Be sure to upload your photos to social media.

There are two zones here and their themes are sea animals and land animals. All of the artwork is very creative and it brings out your own creativity as you play around with them!

The character of this shrine has changed from “tree” to “come”. However, this is still a location in which trees are celebrated.

There are large trees that age over 200 years and are 2nd largest in the nation. They are a national natural treasure.

It is said that there are healing and wish granting properties in the largest tree. If you go around the tree once your life may expand by a year. If you do not share your wish and go around the tree once it is also said to make you wish come true. Come and try it out!

This is where Masako Hojo is celebrated who was the wife of the very first leader during the Kamakura-era. Now it is said to be a power spot for match-making.

Visit each of the parts of the shrine as well as the local museum where you will find national treasures.

There are 837 steps up to this shrive 170 meters above sea level so be sure to dress for the hike!

9. Kiunkaku

This was a villa for the leader of the Japanese railway. It is a building created in the modern-Taisei style.

After this building was passed on from Nobuya Uchida it was change to a ryokan and then to a tourist site of Atami.

This building was built in 1919 and is made in the Tudor style. It is one of 3 special villas in Atami.

This is a great location located 10 minutes from the JR station that is popular for plum blossoms and fall colors.

In the early spring you can enjoy 472 plum trees of 58 different varieties. In the fall you can enjoy 380 trees of beautiful fall colors. Enjoy the beauty of the seasons here.

From January to March you can enjoy the plum festival held here and from November to December you can enjoy the fall color festival. During these times the gardens are lit up.

Most times, entrance to the gardens is free. However, there is a small fee during light up seasons.

However, the foot bath is open during these times so be sure to relax in the warmth of the foot bath while enjoying the beautiful gardens!
