Kappou Yoshida is a Japanese cuisine restaurant which has been hailed by the locals over 50 years. The Kaiseki course meal that includes fresh sashimi and puffer fish dish is a bit pricey, 4,000 to 8,000 JPY (tax excluded), but deserves the price. The ingredients are carefully selected, of course, and as the essence of Japanese cuisine, the presentations are extremely beautiful.

They purchase a whole beef from Arita Bokujo (cattle farm) in Miyazaki. The cattles are raised in a perfect environment and fed with the farmer’s original forages and natural water pumped up from underground 100m (about 328ft). At this restaurant, only A4 class and higher class beef is used. As they purchase whole beef, delicious rare cuts are also available.

Shin Tenmachi Shouten-gai (shopping street) which opened in 1946 has about 90 shops including restaurants, eateries, stationary shops, clothes stores, etc. For those who work at the street, there is a staff canteen called “Shin Tenchou Club”. Though it says a staff canteen, this place is open for non-employees, too.

The set meals and a la carte rice dishes such as curry and Japanese omelette rice are about 600 JPY, and salad and deli buffet is 230 JPY. This place is super reasonable.As its concept is a canteen for employees, it is packed with people who work around the area at lunch time. If you want to visit this place, you might want to avoid that time. Its no-frills comfy atmosphere is also good.
