There are many restaurants in Hakata, but if you are particularly looking for delicious fish, this is the place to go. They serve fresh fish with a reasonable price. Conveniently located in the center of Hakata station, you can also stop by here while waiting for your train.
Though their available fish varies depending on the season, I recommend you to try “whale”. They have whale sashimi and whale bacon, or you can try the platter which comes with three or five kinds of whale dish. Since this menu gets sold out pretty quickly, don’t miss it!
They also serve many kinds of alcohol beverage, appetizers and side dish. From 11am to 2pm, there is a lunch special menu such as Seafood Donburi, Tempura Donburi, and Sashimi lunch special.

Motsunabe restaurants compete so much in this Hakata area, but many locals and tourists really like “Rakutenchi”. This restaurant was awarded as the No.1 Motsunabe restaurant in Japan. Their Motsu is very fresh and doesn’t have any unique “Motsu” smell.
They use plenty of vegetables such as Chinese chives (Nira) and cabbages, and it is visually surprising. Usually people finish their Motsunabe with noodles called “champon noodles”, and this tradition actually started in this restaurant. They have four locations in Hakata, and two of them are located right in front of the Hakata station.

You might not know, but Fukuoka people love Udon. Besides, Udon actually started in here in Fukuoka, not even in other famous udon places such as Kagawa or Gunma. Many locals call this restaurant “Macky” and frequently visit here. They offer a variety of menus starting from 300 yen. You can also request the softness of noodles.
Fukuoka udon is relatively cooked softly, so the soup gets absorbed in noodles. So, eating style here is to add soup into your bowl as needed. Their No.1 item is “Meat burdock Tempura Udon”.
