The 10 Best Places to Eat in Shinsaibashi, Osaka

1. Hokkyokusei Shinsaibashi

This restaurant is actually the original store for omurice. They use two eggs to make their delicious dish.
Their original tomato sauce which is made with vegetables and chicken stock is on top of the omurice. The omelet part is cooked very thinly, yet it melts on your mouth. You can choose the ingredients and sauce, so it’s fun to create your own. They also serve crab croquette and deep fried shrimp.

This ramen store offers creamy Tonkotsu ramen and it is popular in Himeji city, Hyogo. Simply pork bones and water get cooked more than 20 hours and it becomes an amazing soup. They have two kinds of noodles to choose from.
With their wide variety of toppings and other menus, you can create your own style ramen. The store is open 24/7, so it’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or even after having some drinks.

3. Kagaryu

In the young people’s town America-mura, there is a traditional Takoyaki store “Kagaryu”. They have 40 years of history. Their dough inside Takoyaki melts on your toungue, and the sauce has a fruity taste to it. On top of the takoyaki, a plenty of bonito flakes, seaweed powders, and original mayonnaise are added, and the octopus inside is very big.
They are very particular about their dough and use Yamaimo. This ingredient makes the outside dough crispy. You can eat it in the space on the second floor, so it’s a perfect spot for a little snack as well.

4. Chaos Spice Dinner

There are so many curry restaurants in Osaka and it is very competitive. When you walk around, you’ll find them everywhere. Now the trend of curry here is spicy curry. Having different spicy curry together, like Indian curry and south eastern curry is the popular style.

5. Okonomi Omoni

This Omoni has been opened for 50 years since their establishment in Osaka. Their okonomiyaki uses less flours and a plenty of cabbage.
The most popular item is “Omoni Yaki”, which includes sliced pork, scallop, squid, and shrimp. It also comes with an over easy fried egg on top, so it is a pretty good portion. You can taste the sweetness of cabbage.

6. Karen

Karen serves Kagoshima Kuroge Beef and Kurobuta (pork) along with fresh seasonal vegetables. Their “steamed Shabushabu” which is cooked in a bamboo basket is a must try.
Once steamed, vegetables and meat have a light taste to it, so you can eat them endlessly. They also have Kagoishima local food such as Satsumaage. The interior of the restaurant is Japanese-modern style, so you can enjoy your meal in a good atmosphere.

7. Nishiya

There are many buildings in Shinsaibashi, but one traditional building gets everyone’s attention. This is Nishiya, an udon restaurant. As you may know, broth is really important for Osaka udon. Once you step into the restaurant, you’ll smell the delicious soup.
They are famous for their Udon with meat toppings. “Udon chili” is also their special menu, and it is cooked with their special broth and seafood. Why don’t you try Kansai style udon?

8. Tokisushi

Tokisushi was finally opened here! They are known for good sushi with a reasonable price. All sushi are just 150 yen. Besides, chefs make sushi in their hands, not with a machine. Their rice is cooked in a kelp broth and has a special flavor.
Their seafood is a big size and comes straight from the fish market. You can also add some spices and herbs to your sushi and customers enjoy this style. They also serve Tempura and other dishes, and serve Seafood Donburi for lunch.

B-class food is a very popular trend in Japan, which is not a fancy food, but everybody likes it, like a comfort food. As Osaka’s B-class food, Kushikatsu is their popular one. Daruma is very particular about their batter and oil to cook Kushi-katsu. It is extremely crispy, yet it doesn’t give you any heavy after taste. A great variety of ingredients for Kushi-katsu starting from 100 yen, so it is really fun to pick your menu.
They installed a touch-panel style order machine. Therefore, if you are not so comfortable in ordering in Japanese, no need to worry. Just an important Kushi-katsu rule here.
