1. Yuba
“Yuba” is food that people think when they hear food in Kyoto. No matter how much you eat, it is still healthy so good for women. You may not have this flavor at home.
Today we would like to introduce the restaurant called “Higashiyama Yuuzu”. The chief is from Miyama, Kyoto. You can eat lunch for 2000 yen. They also have other lunch set or course to choose. If you come to Higashiyama, please visit!

2. Nishin Soba
Have you ever heard “Nishin soba”? It is soba that has herrig on it. It sounds simple but it takes time to cook to make it soft and once you eat. “Souhonke nishin soba Matsuba” is located 5 minutes from Shijyo Kawaramachi station by foot and where you can eat real Nishin soba.
You can eat Nishin soba for 1300 yen, if you want with salmon rice, it will be 1500 yen. They also have cold Nishin soba for people who don’t like hot soba. You can also buy soba from restaurant as gift. Please check it out.

3. Sobabouro
When you hear “Bouro”, you may think about “Tamago Bouro”. “Sobabouro” is what we want you to try in Kyoto. It is baked snack that includes flour, soba flour, egg and sugar. It is not too soft and too hard, you will like the texture.
You can eat traditional sobaburo at “Soba-gashi dokoro Sawasho”. You can watch how to make on their website, it is like art. They sell box that is good for gift. Please try!

4. Shibazuke
Shibazuke is one of the famous traditional tsukemono in Kyoto. It is what eggplant or cucumber is soaked in sault with red perilla. If you make your own shibazuke, you can use anything not only eggplant or cucumber.
Our suggestion for shibazuke is “Shibazuke Kyotsukemono no Nishidaya”. There are lots of kinds of Shibazuke there. You can check the price, expire date and amount of Shibazuke on their website. Please buy for souvenir!

5. Warabimochi
Lots of people may buy Warabimochi at convenience store or supermarket in summer but Kyoto is a place where it was born. If you come to Kyoto, you should try it at least once.

6. Yudofu
We introduced Yuba earlier. But “Yudofu” is what it comes with Yuba. If Warabimochi is summer food, Yudofu is winter food. It is low calorie and healthy so it is good for women. “Rengetsu-jaya” is located at 5 minutes from subway Higashiyama station by foot.
They have tofu course that you can eat lots of kinds of tofu. You can reserve private room if you go with more than 3 people. So you can go with either friends or family! Please visit!

7. Pike conger
Meal with pike conger is what we want you to eat if you come to Kyoto. Season is from June to July. You can eat at like hotel in Kyoto since lots of people visit Kyoto for Gion festival in July. “Tomikyu” is where they serve blowfish and pike conger.
They serve either depends on the season. You can eat pike conger from the end of March to the end of October. They have lots of menu like “Hamo moriawase (4300 yen), “Hamoshirako (600 yen), “Hamo genpeiyaki (3500 yen) and “Hamo tempura(3000 yen).
Also they have course for 10000 yen and up. Kyoto is famous as it gets hot but let’s forget hotness to eat good food!

8. Kyoyasai
“Kyoyasai” is vegetables that are from Kyoto. So there is no definition for Kyoyasai. How about spending healthy life with eating Kyoyasai when you come to Kyoto for sightseeing? “Yumeni café” is where you can eat meal that uses lots of Kyoyasai.
They serve like Kyoyasai curry or Kyoyasai hamburg. Also they sell soy beans drink at the tofu factory that is located next to café. Please visit when you come to Higashiyama!

9. Green tea sweets
When you think about Kyoto, green tea is what you might think. If you go to restaurant, you might see lots of food or dessert with green tea. “Jouvencelle” is located at 10 minutes from Keihan honsen Gion Shijyo station by foot.
You can eat sweets called “Gion fondue” which you dip fruit, rice cake or sponge cake in green tea chocolate sauce at this café. They have other brunches but you can eat this sweets only in Gion. If you like something sweet, please visit!

10. Mitarashi dango
Lots of people may have eaten Mmitarashi dango as snack when they were kids. You can take Mitarashi dango for events like hanami or picnic.
“Rokkatei” is located about 1km away from Kiyomizugojyo station and where you can eat two sticks of Mitarashi dango for 300 yen, and if you want with green tea, it will be 600 yen.
They also have amazake (400 yen), Ameyu, Hiyashiame (300 yen) and soda (200 yen). How about relaxing eating Mitarashi dango?
