The 10 Best Zoos You Must Visit in Kyushu, Japan

Elephant, Giraffe, and Lion. Everyone loves animals! What is your favorite one? Today, I’m going to introduce 10 zoos in Kyushu area, from Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Oita, Kumamoto and Kagoshima.
1. Nagasaki Bio Park

If you are looking for a zoo where you can actually get closer to animals and pet them with your own hands, this is a great place to go.
Their animals live freely here and you’ll see monkeys walking around and you get to feed hippos. Capybara is one of the popular animals here. The way they take a bath is very adorable!

2. Itozu no Mori Zoological park

A big scale nature in a city! In this place, not only you can meet animals but also plants from all over the world. The forest here is 100 % untouched by humans.
In “Madagascar world” area, you can meet animals which are endangered species. One day might not be enough time!

3. Miyazaki City phoenix Zoo

In this zoo in Miyazaki city, there are more than 80 kinds, total 1600 animals living here. They always have a special show, such as “Flying Flamingo” and “Walking with an elephant”. Highly recommend for families with children!

4. Takasaki Yama Shizen Dobutsuen

In this zoo in Oita, you get to see wild monkeys living there. There is a boss monkey, monkey families, baby monkeys. Even adults will get excited to see them.
Currently 1522 monkeys are living in the mountain and come down to the zoo area. Be aware not to make eye contacts, scare them, or do anything dangerous. Watch your belongings as well.

5. Piknika Kyowakoku

If you are looking for a place to enjoy with your family, this is the place. You can enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and BBQ.
In this park, there are 50 kinds and total 300 animals living here, so there are so many things to see. Your children will love this place!

6. Aso Cuddly Minion

Do you know a monkey called “Pan-kun”? He is a famous monkey on an animal TV show and he is from this zoo. “Animallusion” is a must-see show.

7. Kyushu Shizen Dobutsu Koen African Safari

They have a petting zoo area, so you can get really close to animals. There is a cat salon where cats from all over the world gathered. With an extra charge, you can get on “Jungle bus”.
It’s like a safari bus and you can see animals living there freely.

8. Kujyukyu Shima Dobutsu En Mori Kirara

Recently they opened a building for penguins. There is a big aquarium and you get to see penguins swimming, which is built under the ceiling. So it looks like penguins are flying!
