When the cold winter finally approaches to its end, Japanese people start thinking, “Where should we go and see cherry-blossoms this spring?” To Japanese people, the cherry-blossom-viewing has a special meaning. The flower for viewing blossoms must be cherry blossoms. Admiring the whitish pale pink cherry-blossoms, starting with the Someiyoshino (one of the spices of cherry-trees), family, friends and company co-workers all celebrate the coming of spring, sitting on the sheet, eating the packed lunch and singing songs. The place where you can take a walk through the tunnel of the cherry-blossoms in the castle town full of the historical atmosphere is the Akizuki in the Asakura-city, called the little-Kyoto in the Kyushu region. A long time ago, as there used to be an avenue of big cedars, it had become to call the place, “Sugi-no-baba-dori” (cedar street). This avenue of cherry-trees is one of the 3 famous spots for cherry-blossoms in the Fukuoka prefecture.
The reason for its popularity is that you can walk along the 500m long pink carpet with the 200 cherry-trees on both sides, feeling as if you had been transported through time. At night, the cherry-blossoms shining pale under the dim light will bring you into a dreamy world. This is therecommended cherry-blossom-viewing spot in the Fukuoka prefecture!

The [Nishi Park] is located in the center of Fukuoka-city and is a place for relaxation for its citizens. It has been chosen as one of the 100 selected sites for cherry-blossoms and is the golden spot for cherry-blossom-viewing. In spring, about 1,300 cherry-trees, including Someiyoshino and Ohshimazakura come into full bloom and many locals as well as sightseers visit and view them.
From the observation square, you can look out on the Hakata Bay, the Nokonoshima Island and the Shikanoshima Island. 3. The cherry-blossom-viewing spot where the 3,000 cherry-trees come into full bloom in the Kyushu region! [Ogi Park (Saga)]
The [Ogi Park] in the Ogi-city in the Saga prefecture is the famous park which has received the 2 titles such as one of the 100 selected sites for viewing cherry-blossoms in Japan and one of the 100 selected historical parks in Japan. In this park, there are 3,000 cherry-trees and their reflection in the pond is superb. You shouldn’t miss the Kakumaki, the 350-year-old Inumaki which has been trimmed into the square shape.
You will surely be overwhelmed by the size which is as big as 30 tatami-mats (99㎡). It takes 15 minutes by JR train from the Saga station. 4. You can enjoy cherry-blossom-viewing under the nationally protected species![Omura Park (Nagasaki)]
The [Omura Park (Nagasaki)] is a 20-minute-ride on a bus from the Nagasaki airport. It has 2,000 cherry-trees and one of the nationally protected species, the Omurazakura has more petals than the Someiyoshino, therefore the shape of flower looks thick, cute and even elegant.
Its panache receives the “cherry-blossoms’ cherry blossoms”. This park has been chosen as one of the 100 selected historical parks and one of the 100 selected sites for viewing cherry-blossoms in Japan.At the peak of cherry-blossom-viewing, many people visit there. 5. You feel as if you are walking on the pink carpet.[Fudoson Isshinji (Oita)]
The [Fudoson Isshinji] is well known as a temple for a prayer and ascetic practices as well as the famous place for the cherry-blossoms. Especially, the double-petal cherry-blossoms have unique species such as green or yellow. It is only in this place that you can see the view just like the palette of various colours piling up.
In spring, at the time for cherry-blossom-viewing, the Botanzakura Festival is held. Botanzakura is another name for the double-petal cherry-blossoms. A flurry of cherry-blossoms blown in the wind from the mountain valley creates a pink carpet. Why don’t you walk on it?

6. The age of the cherry-tree is 400 years old.You can have a view of [Isshingyo-no-ohzakura (Kumamoto)]
About 400 years ago, one double-petal cherry-tree was planted in order to repose the souls of the dead in the war. That is this [Isshingyo-no-ohzakura]. After the passing of 400 years, it has changed its appearance into the great cherry-tree which has a trunk girth of more than 7m and the branches have expanded 20m outwards in every direction. It is impressively expressing the coming of spring together with the yellow rapeseed flowers spreading around the tree and the dignified Aso mountain range at the back.
Needless to say, the [Isshingyo-no-ohzakura] is the well-known place of cherry-blossoms. If you would like a cherry-blossom-viewing, there is no other place like this one! Please confirm its appearance which has miraculously survived from the earthquake. This is the recommended place to view the cherry-blossoms in the Kyushu region.

7. The blossoms of the 10,000 cherry-tree which colour the Dam are beautiful. [Ichifusa Dam Lake (Kumamoto)]
The [Ichifusa Dam Lake (Kumamoto) is the renowned spot for the cherry-blossom-viewing. The avenue of the cherry-blossoms surrounds the 14km circumference of the Dam in full bloom. They number about 10,000 and in the season of cherry-blossoms, the area looks as if it is wrapped by the obi (a long belt for a Japanese Kimono). In the center of the Dam, there is a charged big fountain and you can experience a cool atmosphere even in a hot summer.
A little far from the Dam Lake, there is a building which contains an illustrated encyclopedia of 70 cherry-blossoms including Someiyoshino and Gyoikou. Since you’ve come all the way, it would be better to extend your trip to drop in at this building. In the best cherry-blossoms village in Japan, please amuse yourself by cherry-blossom-viewing only at this time of the year.

8. A flight of stone steps leads you to pink scenery [Mochio Park (Miyazaki)]
The cherry-blossoms area in the Mochio Park is one of the 100 selected sites for viewing cherry-blossoms in Japan and the only one in the Miyazaki prefecture. Needless to say not only people from the Miyazaki prefecture, but also people from other prefectures come to visit this park. The 2.600 standard cherry-trees such as Someiyoshino and Yaezakura have been lined up along the path measuring 2km up to the Mochio shrine. You can feel as if you are walking through a pink tunnel.
When you walk up the 300 stone steps towards the Mochio shrine, the pink cherry-blossoms spread out just like cotton candy. The spring clothes which spread out will make the tourists feel excited whether seeing it closely or from a far distance. Please visit this park.

9. If you want to see the grand scenery in KagoshimaEnjoy the history as well as the nature [Senganen (Kagoshima)]
The [Senganen] is a popular spot for viewing various types of cherry-blossoms, starting with Kanhizakura and Gantanzakura from the beginning of February. It has been registered as a world heritage site, so there are endless sightseers who visit this site not only from Japan but also from all over the world. In the site of 50,000㎡, a lot of historical ruins have been dotted around with abundant nature all around.
The towering mountain, Sakurajima, which looks as if it is moving towards you is a model of an artificial hill and the Kinko Bay is a model of a pond. This beautiful scenery looks just like a picture scroll. Please take a photo of it! Of course keep it in your memory as well. Please soak up the Japanese atmosphere in the Japanese garden which is notable around the world.

10. The dreamy cherry-blossom-viewing spot in Kagoshima which is one of the 100 selected sites for viewing the cherry-blossoms in Japan. [Tadamoto Park (Kagoshima)]
The [Tadamoto Park] is on a hill and is famous for Senbonzakura in the Kagoshima prefecture in the Kyushu region. This park is a place of relaxation for the locals and every day it is crowded with people of all ages. In this park, the cherry-trees have been planted for a 2km length and in spring, during the full bloom of cherry-blossoms, the lantern lights are seen here and there. The dreamy sight of the cherry-blossoms at night leaves us speechless. If you go a little way further along, you can find the noble healing spot which nature has produced, the Sogi-no-taki (waterfall).
