“Unagiya Hirokawa” is located in front of Tenryu temple which is the biggest temple in Arashiyama. They have table seats on the first floor and tatami seats and reservation seats on the second floor.

It is always crowded so if you don’t want to wait, we recommend you to reserve second floor. They get eel from all over Japan such as Shizuoka, Aichi, Kagoshima every day and they release them to water in Sagano to wash off the scent.

“Unagiya Issei” is located a few minutes from Hankyu Arashiyama Katsura station. The owner is from Unagiya Hirokawa, so it is popular for people in Kyoto.

They use eel from Aichi or Kyushu and cook them with Kanto style. They use sauce depends on the seasons. It is always crowded with people in Kyoto, so we suggest you to book before you go.
