2. Inakaan
This shop is found by the Heiwa-dori Station on the Kitakyushu Mono-rail. There is a garden inside the shop and you will enjoy a relaxed time here.

3. Ganso Motoyoshiya
This is a shop located one alley off of Kyomachi. The exterior of the shop is very traditional and the road in front is also a traditional stone road. Here you can truly enjoy a Japanese environment.
The popular menu item is the broiled eel that has been served since 1681. The outside is crisp and the inside is a wonderful soft texture.

This shop is located along the Hirokawa and can be recognized by the traditional exterior and the blue curtain over the entrance. Here you can enjoy several different methods of cooking eel that are offered.

5. Wakamatsuya
“Wakamatsuya” is located near the Ariake Aquarium and Saifuku Temple as well as the end stop for enjoying a float down the river “Okibashi”. This is a traditional shop that will allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of the Yanagawa area.
It is not rare for lines to develop here but it is worth it to enjoy the variety of different dishes offered here.

6. Yanagawaya
This shop is located 4 minutes from Nakasu-kawabata Station. You will recognize the shop by the red paper lamp in front with the Japanese words for eel on it. This shop was opened in 1960.
This shop is opened till 2 a.m. and is great for a late night meal. It is also extremely conveniently to the station.
There are so many varieties offered here including the eel’s head and other parts. You can also enjoy a dish with both salt-broiled and soy sauce-broiled eel. You may also choose the take-out option for a different kind relaxed evening.

This shop is marked by its black flag and door frame curtains.
You can choose between counter seating and tatami seating for best comfort. Enjoy the set menus with pickled vegetables and other sides, bite-size pieces of eel on rice, or a whole eel on rice.
